Takuma Sugi wins the Aloha Classic Youth competition

A lot of young rippers headed to Maui for the Aloha Classic and we saw some impressive performances at Ho’okipa Beach. Also the very talented wave and freestyle rider Takuma Sugi came from Japan and it was definitely worth it.

He started the event in the Pro Men’s fleet and won his first round heat in a great manner, which definitely must have boosted his confidence for the youth competition. From the first heat on Takuma sailed radically and made the most out of light wind conditions and challenging waves. In the final against Takara Ishii as well as Jake and Zee Schettewi Takuma scored a total heat score of 14.17 points with an excellent 8 point score.

This impressive display secured him the event win against strong competitors and also the second place in the overall 2019 PWA World Tour U20 Youth wave ranking. Congratulations and we are looking forward to more stylish performances, Takuma!
